The Beluga Sturgeon is the world's largest Sturgeon, growing in excess of 3,000 pounds. However, this fish has been overhunted due to its precious eggs, just like the Kaluga Sturgeon. These fish have experienced a rapid decline, and thus the fishing industries and communities that depended on them have also died out.

Mighty Rivers: The Danube[]
Jeremy Wade traveled to Romania in Mighty Rivers: The Danube, where he traveled to the Danube river mouth. He got in touch with the Romanian delta police and they were able to track down an illegal fishing net. Sadly, it contained three vulnerable or endangered sturgeon, one of them a juvenile Beluga, all killed by the net. The net was removed, and one more sturgeon was found alive. Jeremy then released it.
Due to conservation efforts, Jeremy believes the Beluga population will be revived.
