Jungle Terminator is the second episode of the sixth season of River Monsters.
Episode Description[]
Jeremy Wade investigates three mysterious deaths in three South American countries on his most remote mission to date. Will living with a secretive jungle tribe help him discover the terrifying creature responsible?
Episode Summary[]
Three mysterious deaths in three countries lead Wade to an unlikely suspect. The victims all show signs of burns on their corpses, and the Electric eel is quickly identified as the culprit. While aware of how dangerous these animals potentially are, Wade is initially reluctant to believe that they are potent enough to burn their victims' skin black, as the reports describe. However, more information and discussion with locals eventually convinces Wade that they are, in fact, the culprit. Along with this information, Wade also hears of a tribe that allegedly catch electric eels with their bare hands.
Dubious, Wade sets out to meet the tribe. However, they are so isolated from the outside world that their population could be decimated by even a common cold, so Wade must be screened thoroughly. He is eventually cleared to visit them. Unfortunately, the chief's mother passes away shortly after Wade's arrival, and the village is in mourning. Eventually the villagers start to prepare for their electric eel hunt. Wade watches a bizarre ritual that results in each of the hunters vomiting. The next morning, they successfully catch an electric eel with their hands. While the exact procedure and results of the ritual are unknown, it is possible that the empty stomachs somehow help avert serious injury from the electric eels.
