The Kali River, also known as the Sharda River, is a river in India.
River Monsters[]
Killer Catfish[]
The Kali River served as the setting for the first episode of River Monsters to be filmed, "Killer Catfish." In the episode, Jeremy Wade investigated the Kali River Goonch Attacks and attempted to catch a large Goonch Catfish specimen.
Return of the Killer Catfish[]
Later in the series, in the episode "Return of the Killer Catfish," Jeremy mentioned that the Kali River was suffering from extensive pollution.
Description[]
The Kali River originates high in the Himalayan Mountains. It runs about 220 miles before joining a Ganges tributary. While the areas that Jeremy visited during "Killer Catfish" were dominated by rapids and occasional deep pools, the lower stretches of the river are much wider.
