The tarpon is one of the most legendary fish of River Monsters season 5. It took Jeremy Wade multiple tries and a huge amount of effort to catch. It was blamed for simply knocking people out of their canoes and into the water without leaving a trace. On Jeremy's final try, he had to wait into the night and at sunset, he finally began a huge battle with the Tarpon.
Description[]
The tarpon was originally thought to be an all ocean fish, however Jeremy caught his tarpon in fresh water. Tarpon appear to be able to enter brackish (or partly fresh) water. They can grow to 350 pounds, however this is not as large as the Xiphactinus, an ancient relative of the Tarpon. Tarpon live in Central America and the Gulf of Mexico. Tarpon fishing is famous around Florida.
